I had a fantastic experience at this salon. There is a warm welcoming atmosphere. The shop is clean and has various tools and equipment for different hairstyles and treatments. All of the staff in the shop are talented, friendly and knowledgeable. My service provided by Joseph was 10/10, my hair feels and looks amazing. I cannot fault my experience and I will definitely be a loyal returning customer.

I had an amazing experience at Afrotherapy Salon! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and made to feel completely at ease. The atmosphere was inviting, Joseph went above and beyond to ensure all my needs were met. Joseph took his time to listen to exactly what I wanted and offered expert advice to help me with my natural hair routine. The attention to detail and level of care were outstanding. Not only did I leave with a stunning blow out ,but I also felt truly pampered throughout the entire visit. If you’re looking for a salon that combines professionalism with a friendly and welcoming environment, I highly recommend Afro Therapy Salon. I’ll definitely be returning!

I left the salon in tears and can’t stand to look at my hair. I went in for a simple trim, wash, and curl definition, but walked out with a drastic cut and product buildup in my hair. There was no room for miscommunication, as my appointment was specifically booked as a trim, not a cut. The stylist, Shantay, even reassured me by saying, “Your hair’s long, so you won’t even see a difference.” Before the appointment, my hair was down my back. Now, it barely reaches my collarbone when stretched, with about 5 inches cut off—far from the inch she assured me she’d take off. If I had known, I would’ve stopped her immediately. I’ve been growing my hair for 19 years, so this was devastating. To make matters worse, the cut was uneven and had to be corrected by someone else. The back is now shorter than the front, which makes no sense. When I expressed that my hair was “very short” with tears in my eyes, the stylist casually responded, “Really? I only cut a little bit off,” offering no apology or acknowledgment of what she had done. Adding insult to injury, I later noticed white, jelly-like residue in my freshly washed hair from the products used. I wouldn’t recommend this salon to anyone, but I do want to acknowledge Joseph, another stylist, who has helped tremendously and made me feel seen and heard. He trimmed my hair further to even it out and booked me in for braids after I told him I wouldn’t be wearing my hair curly again until it grows back. Additionally, my friend had a poor experience here as well. She booked the same trim and curl-defining service as me but was charged extra for a blow-dry because her hair, being in the 4 category, couldn’t be trimmed while curly. This wasn’t disclosed anywhere beforehand, and the website misleadingly states they cater to all textures. She was also offered a simple braid style, which seemed like a courtesy for the inconvenience, but she was later charged for it. Save your money, your time, and your hair. This salon lacks empathy, professionalism, and transparency. Unless you want your hair butchered and unexpected charges, I strongly advise against going here.
