About Aqua Sana Spa at Center Parcs Longleat Forest
Much as I love warmth and pampering, I'm easily bored and didn't expect to find I'd spent nine hours, very happily, in the Longleat Aqua Sana on my 'pamper day'. I took a friend with me on their 2-for-1 option, but we felt like special guests rather than budget buyers from the minute we arrived. Staff were very welcoming, and the complementary drinks and lunch were beyond our expectation in terms of quality - delicious, and healthy too. There are about 18 different spa experiences, not counting the cafe, and since the day begins at 9.30 and the spa doesn't close till 9pm, we were able to sample them all. My favourites were the scented steam rooms, especially Japanese and Indian Blossom, and the meditation rooms with their tranquil coloured lights. My therapist for the mini-facial was charming and very chatty, which I like - as she obviously realised - and gave me good advice on my home cleansing technique. She was informative about the products without pushing them so's I felt like I was paying for a hard-sell. On a less enthusiastic note, the spa pool and aromatherapy footbaths were rather cool - almost uncomfortable, especially as there is no hot tub or jacuzzi (a disappointing ommission). Especially helpful: there's no hire fee or deposit for robes & towels, and you can change them for fresh warm dry ones throughout the day. What I wished I'd known: there are relaxing corners to curl up and read, but no papers or magazines, so you have to bring your own - I'd have done that if I'd known, but are complementary papers so hard to provide? Overall, a great day and a visit I'd repeat... but not often unless there's a special offer.
