Armathwaite Hall Country House Hotel and Spa

Take a beautiful drive through the Lake District before arriving at the stunning building of Armathwaite Hall Country House. The original part of the house takes you back a century, the spa is located where the barns would have been and has tip top modern facilities. There are 3 saunas ranging from dry heat to humid heat, icewater rainshower, tropical rainshower, indoor pool and cosy outdoor heated pool where you can see the rabbits running on the grass and into the trees, you have to experience the outdoor pool in cooler weather, take a little run from the spa building to the outdoor pool (5 steps but when its cold it feels like a run) and then plung into the warm pool and watch the steam rise from the warm pool into the cold air, whilst sipping champers. The gym is nice, good size, didnt use it though, couldn't leave the spa. My friend had a Terra Magica Sculpting Relaxing Massage where they trace their way over your body with light percussion strokes, she said it was the best she had ever had.On the Sunday we were welcomed in the garden by a falcon and its keeper, he gave us a talk about the falcon and invited us to the zoo where we could explore other birds and animals they had.And lastly the food, wow the food. We stayed for the night and had dinner, its an experience to be had, silver service, some local produce, yummy chosen wines........I will be going again. It felt like we had been away for a week.
