About Elemis SpaPod at Debenhams in Belfast
I bought this because they had a 2 for 1 offer on so I gave the free one to my friend. When I arrived the girl asked for the booking slip, I thought this had just been a reminder of my appt time so naturally didnt carry it around. she told me that she couldn't complete the treatment without it, even though it was the same lady who sold it to me the previous day and admitted to remembering me. All she would do was offer to push my appt back by 30 mins so I had to get a taxi back to my house and then travel into town again, bringing the cost of this treatment up by£10 (luckily I live quite close )A younger girl was doing the treatment itself and started off with a skin mapping exam on the computer, this was done in the middle of the shop and the 19" screen had huge close ups of my face highlighting every blemish, she did this for 8 different types of damage, i.e. wrinkles, bactaria, hydration, UV damage ( she pointed out the UV damage wasnt as bad as it looks as no-one actually knows wether the big black marks so there was no point whatsoever to the test anyways lol) I found it quite disheartening that anyone in Debenhams on friday 24th knows that I need to drink more water to hydrate my skin and moisturise more often. I answered several lifestyle questions which she typed into the computer and voila, it gave her a list of just about every single product they sell which amazingly ALL suit my skin type. from this she selected TEN products which she told me I needed. After I politely declined I was shown into the pod itself. the ambieance was lovely, very cosy yet proffessional with soft lighting and equally sof music. I settled into the infamous massage chair and we started, the facial no doubt was good but I found that I couldnt concentrate on much else than the internal wheels from the massage system grinding up and down my back ( which consequentially is quite sore now ) I found it quite the opposite from the relaxing experience I was hoping for and spent the duration of the whole treatment arching my back so that they didn't hurt quite so much. The only time I was able to concentrate on the traeatment itself was when it came to the hot stone therapy. Rather than rubbing the flat smooth surface of the pebbles along my oiled skin the therapist chose to use the edges of the stones and pressed them quite hard against my skin which HURT, especially when she was running them along my collar bones and shoulders. Needless to say I won't be back. My therapist was quite friendly and polite, simply not trained to a standard I'm accustomed to with visiting spas etc, however I think the lady who runs the counter could use a few pointers in customer service.
