About Jacqui R Salon
The hair salon is pretty small (fit for 3 or 4 chairs), tucked away from all the busy shops in Bow Lane near St Paul's Cathedral. It doesn't look fancy but I guess appearance cannot be everything. I went there using the MobDeal coupon (a haircut for 18 quid, instead of 55 quid - the original price by their Senior Stylist). When I phoned to book a date for a haircut appointment, I wasn't asked which hairdresser I would like. When I got there, no complimentary drink (a glass of wine, as promised in the MobDeal) was offered; just coffee/tea/juice. (The coffee was absolutely terrible to drink, by the way). My hairdresser was a very friendly, patient, and nice French guy called Patrice. He washed and cut my (really long straight) hair nicely and patiently after asking me what I wanted. He didn't rush or try to sell any haircare product/service to me at all, which is an excellent point for me. Overall it took about 90 minutes (wash+cut+blow dry). My haircut experience with Patrice is a good one and I am happy with my new haircut, which is not dramatically different from my old style. I didn't have a haircut for about a year, so my previous hairstyle was really shapeless and a bit dull. He shortened the length a bit and created some nice layers, which was what I had asked for. So he did a good job. The overall service from other staff members was rather lukewarm and not particularly welcoming at all. Even though my hairdresser seems really good at what he does, I don't think I would want to pay 55 pounds there to receive such lukewarm service, but 18 quid for a haircut in central London is definitely a very good deal.
