About The Weybridge Health Club & Spa
I am one of the earliest members of this club and some of my family are also members. I know I should come more regularly but I am fortunate to be able to keep my membership.Whilst I am generally happy, like most things in life, it has changed. Nowadays it is not as select and it does not offer the basic catering which one normally associates with the whole 'spa' experince. However, the gym staff are well lead and managed. They are welcoming, expert and attentive.There is also a good range of equipment.The rest of the management is less professional. I am disabled and simply requested a handrail to be placed on the wall in the corridor leading to the poolside, like the ones next to each of the staircases in the club. I was ignored for a long time until I requested to see the 'Risk Assessmemt' for that area. First I was told that the club does not show it, then one member of staff owned up to the fact that it only existed in a general sense!! Then a week later I was invited in to see a more detailed document!! I could not have a copy and had to glance at it in the lounge. The manager has still not asked to see me and is invariably very busy!!The net result is that the manager feels that the wet anti-slip tiles are sufficient. Subsequently two other disabled members have also spoken with me about their concerns.I intend to take the matter further and will photograph and measure the offending areas and consult with the other disabled members. I also intend to speak to my solicitor. We will then make one last effort to see the manager before compiling a report for the Health and Safety Executive (detailing the risks in the light of the Disabled Discrimination Act).ALL THIS LEAVES A VERY BAD TASTE AND IS SO UNNECESSARY - ALL OVER A SIMPLE HANDRAIL which anyone would put in their own bathroom as a simple matter of course.DOES THE CLUB REALLY CARE ABOUT ITS MEMBERS??
