Belper is located on the A6 which runs north to Derby. The town also has bus services to Derby and Ripley as well as many other small local villages. Belper is also served by a railway station that is located on the Midland Main Line which serves mainly local areas on the Derby-Matlock service. Belper contains much green area that adds to the beauty of the town. The River Gardens at Strutt's North Mill provide beautiful scenery around the old mill. The mill and the gardens are located on Bridge Foot. The mill was once a great technological advancement, but now it is a museum that displays the textile industry that was once great in Belper. Belper Parks allow you to experience fifty acres of beautiful greenery and grasslands. The parks are located on The Butts and help make Belper a more beautiful and serene place. St. John's Chapel is a point of interest in Belper. This chapel was built around 1250 and is a true historic site in the town. The chapel is also located on The Butts. Belper has many festivals and fun events for its residents and visitors. The Food Fair takes place in July and features delicious gourmet food. The fair also contains live music and entertainment. The fair takes place on King Street. Belper is home to the Belper School, a sixth form school. This school has produced very impressive pupils such as the swimmer Ross Davenport. The town is full of shopping amenities as it has four supermarkets and a busy shopping area on King Street. The shopping area includes the major department store, De Bradelei and a tackle and gun shop.
