One of the landmarks in Blyth is the “Spirit of the Staithes” sculpture, unveiled in 2003, which represents the history of coal distribution- an industry in which Blyth once played a large part. The High Light Lighthouse on Bridge Street is one the town's oldest structures and a popular landmark.Every July, the town is host to the Blyth Town Summer Fair, which occurs around the market place and boasts a number of attractions. Musical performances, exhibitions and entertainment shows are a few of the fair's usual offerings. The Phoenix Theatre on Beaconsfield Street is a small theatre near the centre of the town which features shows and performances throughout the year. Blythe Sports Centre is the local recreational centre which has a wide range of facilities including a sports hall, swimming pool, fitness room, skate park and saunas. Golfers can enjoy a round of golf at the Blyth Golf Club located on the edge of the town. Right off of Ridley Avenue is Ridley Park, which was built as a result of a regeneration programme.
