One interesting thing to do whilst in the area is to visit Rhuddlan Castle, which dates back to the 13th century, when King Edward I had it built. Situated at a strategic crossing along the River Clwyd, King Edward I had the river canalised so that seafaring ships could import supplies. Truly, this is both a legendary castle and location waiting to be discovered. For younger children, a visit to SeaQuarium is essential. Located along the seafront, the aquarium fosters an underwater tunnel with live sharks, a ray zone, a sea horse nursery and tropical reefs. The old shipwreck exhibit features octopus, smaller sharks and wolf fish amongst others. Rhyl is easily accessible by both train and motorway. The North Wales Coast Line serves the local area via Virgin Trains between Hollyhead and London Euston. The A548 runs through the town, connecting it to the A55 to Chester Road.
