Putney High Street is full of shops, restaurants and bars and boasts the Putney Exchange Shopping; a shopping centre which hosts both local and chain stores. Another important race held there is the Head of the River Race.Putney Leisure Centre on Dryburgh Road provides a variety of sports facilities for the community, including a cutting edge gymnasium, an exercise studio, an indoor cycling studio, a health suite, a main pool with diving boards, a teaching and children's pool, a crèche and a cafe, amongst other things. The centre also hosts a variety of sporting and swimming events.Putney Arts Theatre on Ravenna Road has a high reputation, showing a variety of plays and regularly hosting art exhibitions. The building is a former church, which dates back to the mid 19th Century.
