About Avorm
I actually went to this Salon for the first and last time New Year's Eve 2006. Prior to having my appointment I went in and spoke to the Manager. I told him how nervous I was as I hadn't found many good Afro hair salons. He assured me all his staff were highly trained and competent. My appointment for a wash and blowdry was for around 5pm, I was having my hair done specifically for a New Year's Eve Ball. My hair was washed and the Stylist proceeded to start using a pick on a hairdryer to blow dry my hair straight. I told her this was not going to work with my hair as it was fine and would be left flat. I needed it to be dryed using a round brush. She started doing this, but it was evident she lacked experience and all her fiddling and slowness was beginning to irritate me. Eventually a more senior stylist took over and finished my hair with the round brush, but by this time it was too late and my hair was frizzy and shapeless. At this point I had been there close to two hours and this was just for a wash and blow dry. I was due to be picked up at 7.30pm and I just had to tell them I had to go, as I'd be late, they didn't get to tong it. I don't recall if I paid them but the Manager did give me a voucher to have it redone free at a later date, but I never bothered to return.I ended up rushing home re blowdrying with a round brush and tonging it myself, but really it needed to be rewashed as it still had some frizz, so I went out for the evening with hair that should have looked better. Not a great experience despite the assurances that everything would be great.
