About David Lloyd - Cardiff
BE CAREFUL - READ BEFORE YOU JOIN The club appears to tie the members into very long contracts (currently, I believe 12 months notice) and this year when my membership was due for renewal the club did not adhere to their own contract with regards to price increases, 14a & 14b of the contract in particular. If your job is not 100% secure then please consider this as they will not make exceptions, you've signed for 12 months and you'll pay for 12 months. Secondly, David Lloyd have very poor customer service and their contracts are not transparent or ethical. Read the members handbook BEFORE you sign your contract. It gives David Lloyd the right to downgrade the quality of the facilities service and choice of activities they offer at anytime during your membership. So the service that you sign up to recieve may not be the service you get after four months of membership. And there's nothing you can do about it - and they don't care. All they want is your hard earned cash. The office staff, in charge of Membership Relations, I found to be rather dishonest! I personally experienced some very unethical tricks when negotiating my membership renewal. The Membership Relations Manager, she knows who she is (MM), will even insist that she does not receive emails as official notice of resignation (or retraction), depending on what benefits the club of course. Finally, and the reason that I left the club after being a member for many years, I personally witnessed a long-standing member being refused entry to the club only 2 days after his payment ran out. He explained that the matter was under review and that he had a Club Championship match (at the club) that day. They still refused entry. How ruthless! Be careful! Summary: Personally, I would avoid this club.
