About Floatworks
I chose Floatworks as a 30th birthday present for two of my friends, and we went there on 19 July 2009.We didn’t know quite what to expect as it was the first time in a flotation tank for all three of us. The receptionist was happy to answer our questions, and we were then shown to our individual flotation rooms, which were clean and comfortable. We were provided with ear plugs and also Vaseline which is useful as you are not supposed to shave for several hours beforehand but we had forgotten, so had to apply liberal doses of this!I entered the tank with some trepidation, but decided to go for it and not only turn off the inner light but also to close the top of the flotation tank. It took me a while to relax completely. Once I did, I enjoyed the floating sensation and even had the weird impression at one point that I was in my own bed! You become acutely aware of any aches in your body, and these gradually seem to disappear during the session. When you reach the end of the session, relaxing music comes on to let you know that it is time to get out of the tank. I hurried out as I was not sure how quickly the room would be needed for the next booking, and thought that I would get a shower once in the area outside the rooms, however there weren’t any so I remained covered with salt until I got home. This was not unpleasant at all, I just looked rather white! If going again, I’d make sure to use the shower inside my actual flotation room. I’d certainly recommend it as an unusual birthday present and apparently you get a free flotation session on your next birthday so hopefully I will be back!
