Nu U looks lovely from the outside, but on the inside its a very different story. I done a four day work experience there, provided by my school. (My first ever experience of working). The manager was not friendly at all, all she told me to do was sweep up hairs and about twicw asked me to buy milk. She a few times asked me to answer the phone but never showed me how to write appointments down or check if they were available so I was often passin the phone to her, causing her to be annoyed because she was busy, um...not my fault if she only had her and one employee (working under 5 hours) working there a day!! So at times when she didn't give me anything to do or I had finished jobs, I would walk around the salon. I was very shocked at what I discovered, cobwebs, dust, tiny spiders and during my four days I had come across and swept up quite a few ants! She didn't even have a fridge so milk and other food were left out in a small room where she also kept cleaning stuff (very unhygenic). Next, I know its a small detail but magazines were out of date, I mean 2 or 3 years out of date. Most of her customers were pensioners wanting their curly perm and when they talked to her, she obviously doesn't listen and makes it obvious sheis disinterested. Also she never put the heatin on, it was always freezing cold, even with my thick wool cardigan! Last but not leat, she just aint friendly at all!! Sorry but I'm not exgagerating, hardly ever had a smile on her face, always talking about herself and her boyfriend (who looks about thirty something while she's cleary in her 60's, she tries to look and dress younger), she never offered me a cup of tea once but offered other staff, in fact she often treated me like I wasn't there, it was obvious the only reason she offered work experience to a school work experience programme was to gain some sort of status or look good as near the front she had 2 certificates from the programme. Overall, the hair and beauty salon is not clean, not customer friendly, just generally not a nice place to be in!
