Investment in the town centre over the last five years has lead to a dramatic transformation of one of the town's premier spots. It now contains a cinema, a visual arts centre and two shopping centres. The Foundry Shopping Centre on Market Hill is located in the heart of Scunthorpe and offers both modern and traditional retailers in a customer friendly environment. The other main shopping centre is The Parishes on Fenton Street, which provides a modern shopping experience and is located right next to Vue Cinema. Ravendale Street has quickly established itself as the culinary centre of Scunthorpe and is well known for its variety of restaurants and café culture. Baths Hall is also in the centre of the town on Doncaster Road and hosts live music, comedy, and award ceremonies. The secondary schools in Scunthorpe are currently undergoing a rebuilding programme that is funded by an £88 million investment from the Building Schools for the Future Programme. The North Lincolnshire Museum is on Oswald Road, close to the railway station, and offers interactive exhibits that reflect upon the history and changes of the region. The town's football club Scunthorpe United is nicknamed “The Iron” and play at Glanford Park on Doncaster Road. The town also has a speedway team that competes at the second highest level, the Premier League. For recreational purposes, the Appleby-Frodingham Athletic Club is used by residents for many types of sport. The leisure centre on Carlton Street is also a popular site that includes a gym, exercise studio, steam room and pool.
